Hi all, Happy Labor Day…
If you've been following me on Facebook, you've probably noticed my numerous Jimmy Buffett posts since his passing on September 1st. I've shed tears several times over the past few days.
Many of you may not be familiar with my background, so I wanted to share a glimpse into my childhood. My father and brother were ill from the moment I was born, and without health insurance, we lost everything we had. I grew up in a trailer, wearing clothes from thrift stores and yard sales. When I reached an age where I could truly appreciate music, I stumbled upon Jimmy Buffett's tunes while playing tennis in Florida at the age of 11.
His music resonated with me and provided an escape from the challenges in my life. I vividly recall being 16, cruising around while playing his box set on repeat. Jimmy's music not only inspired me but also instilled the belief that I could aspire to be whoever I wanted and reach for the stars.
Fortunately, when I met my husband, I discovered he was also a fan. Throughout the first decade of our marriage, I battled rheumatoid arthritis and endured more than 22 surgeries. I can still remember the weekends spent listening to Margaritaville Channel on XM radio, offering a ray of hope for better days ahead.
I approach life much like the themes in Jimmy's songs, never taking my roots for granted and cherishing every moment. I live each day as if it were my last.
I am profoundly blessed and grateful to have grown up with Buffett's lyrics shaping my perspective. I feel fortunate to have seen him perform live on multiple occasions. His music has made the world a better place, and I can personally attest to becoming a better person because of it.
Here’s a quote from his song to be recorded “Bubbles Up” that hasn’t been released yet, airing for the first time yesterday.
When yоur compаѕs is spinnin’
Аnd you’re lost on the way
Like a lеaf іn the wind friend
Нear me whеn І ѕау
Bubbles up they will pоint you towards home
No matter hоw deеp or how far you roam
They wіll shоw уou the surfаce
The plot and thе purpose
Ѕo when the jоurney gеtѕ long
Just know that you all love
Тhere is light up abоve
And thе joy is аlways enough
Bubbles up
Bubbles Up Jimmy Buffett, you will be missed beyond measure.
