Today we are talking about why you need salt!
The Salt Fix-
Let’s not blame sodium for the problem chronic stress and sugar created…
I’m a big fan of digging into controversial topics, but I also struggle with bite-sized bits of information like posting on social media about a complicated topic.
Every topic when it comes to human health is nuanced (including this one), and should be individualized based on you and what’s going on with your body!
However; this topic, in general, has been super generalized and misunderstood, and we’re still preaching outdated information.
You have people with chronically dysregulated blood sugar just watching their sodium intake to control their high blood pressure which means they’re usually also dehydrated.. instead of getting down to the root of why they have high blood pressure to begin with.
Is sodium a factor? Yes. Especially if you already have high blood pressure because that elevated insulin which is usually also present, will tell your body to retain the sodium. Is sodium usually the cause? No.. and restricting it is usually just helping to manage conditions vs. give the body what it needs to heal and maintain balance.
Questions on this?? I know I am connected to a lot of people in the healthcare field and this is still widely taught/believed.. but we have to dig into root cause instead of treating surface-level symptoms with bandaids.
